Dress Shopping (and purchasing!)

On August 14, 2009 - exactly one year to the day prior to the wedding - Jess, Lisa, Ronna, Brett and the mothers went on a hunt for the perfect gown.

To make the day more special (and to allow for everyone to enjoy a toast, and maybe a few more cocktails) we rented a limo (Ground Force One) and embarked on our journey to Port Henry. Let me just say our driver, Paul, was AMAZING! He made sure we were all set with everything, found us a place to eat lunch, never rushed us and even offered to stop for "anti-acids" when the request was made! Mimosa's and laughter all the way down put us in just the right mood to enjoy a morning at the Fashion Corner Bridal Boutique with Natalie.

While I had many ideas of what I thought I would like, I felt that the best way to involve everyone, and to ensure that I tried on all possible flattering silhouettes was to have everyone pull dresses that they thought would be right for me. Not only did this get everyone involved but really made it more meaningful when I tried on the dress we all knew would be "the one" and to find out it was selected by my mother.

After only a few DOZEN dresses we weren't sure we would find the dress that day - nor did I even think that was possible. There were some really awful dresses. One of Lisa's picks, the halter with the lilac waist wrap, and the one that pushed my chest up to my chin and nearly cut off the circulation to my arms (not sure who selected that one) were among the worst of the worst. Among the best were a corset back two-toned, strapless, two piece A-line; a lace overlay with amazing detail, and of course the ultimate winner of which you will have to wait to see pictures on this blog - the only hint, Mori Lee.

My dress is beautiful, modern, sexy, and so NOT what I went to the store expecting to select but nonetheless perfect. With respect to the fit, style, "feel" - I have yet to see anything that compares. Hopefully, Jud will feel the same!
